Stay safe and healthy
We are very lucky to have been offered the opportunity to join virtual services from either Chartham church or the Wye Benefice, please click below for details of how to do this,
“May not Must” (… open our churches for private prayer).
This is the core of the message and advice received from Bishop Rose and the Church of England. After carefully considering the guidance and Risk Assessments, the PCCs of Chilham, Challock, Molash and Godmersham have decided that, for the time being, the churches will not be opening. There were many factors leading to this, but principally the decision was based on the practicalities of ensuring the safety of those visiting and those caring for each church.
The only service now permitted inside the building is a funeral. Any requests will be treated on a case by case basis, only doing what the PCC feels is practical and safe, whilst trying to reach out at a difficult time. our churches are special places, but we have shown, during this lockdown, that it is not essential in order to worship or pray.
