Paying tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh: Books of Condolence
Please be advised that the Government has requested that - in order to reduce the risk of Coronavirus transmission during this period - local churches do not offer physical books of condolence for people to sign. To sign the book please click here.
A special prayer from the Church of England:
God of our lives,
we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,
for his love of our country,
and for his devotion to duty,
We entrust him now to your love and mercy,
through our Redeemer Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Remembering our loved ones
To mark and recognise the loss of all those who have died, the King’s Wood Benefice is opening a virtual ”Condolence” book on our website for all those who have sadly passed away in our parishes. So if you would like your loved one to be included please e-mail a photograph and a 200/250 word biography to: info@kingswoodbenefice.co.uk and we will ensure that it is included in the book of condolence.
Recognising our local heroes
In recognition and celebration of those who have gone above and beyond in helping others in our communities during this time, the Church would like to hold a special event to honour and thank both individuals and companies/organizations.
But, in order to do this, we need your help. We need your nominations. There will be categories for each parish for a young person, an adult and an organization and then an overall benefice recognition for the King’s Wood young person, the King’s Wood adult and the King’s Wood company/organization. So you could nominate a paper boy or girl, a neighbour, a teacher, the local GPs surgery, farm shop, pub etc. Think about why you would like to make the nomination and then write 200/250 words saying why they deserve to be specially recognised.
Given the current circumstances we can’t give a specific date for this event, but please look out for further information and start writing. Nomination forms will be available shortly.
So let’s look forward to brighter days when we can once again gather together and celebrate all that is good and all that we have to be thankful for.
